The initial stages of starting one’s home search can be daunting, especially if it’s your first time experiencing the process. From the very beginning, thousands of questions can be running through your head: What is an HOA? Is a special assessment as fun as it sounds? What the hell is wrong with the carpet?
Through it all, it is a process that requires patience, attention to detail, and determination – and after months of scouring the market, we were able to find the perfect home. If I were to tell you that there was a condominium on the market that boasted hardwood floors, granite counter tops, no pending litigation with low HOA dues, and a breathtaking view of the St. John’s bridge — you would have told me I’m crazy. We saw our opportunity and proceeded to write our first offer, which turned out to be the only offer we would have to write!
Throughout the stress of writing our first offer, reviewing disclosures and inspection reports, and negotiating repairs, we survived the process. We secured not just the home, but the appliances and a generous credit to facilitate his transition into his first home. In the end, Josh couldn’t have been a better client. He was never hesitant to ask questions, paid extraordinary attention to detail, and was willing to remain positive in the hardest times. I can’t express how grateful I am to have represented him, and I’m so excited to follow his journey following this entire process. Congratulations, Josh!!

Broker
Hello! My name is Jake Grant. I was born in Los Angeles, California, but I was raised for nearly my entire life in Portland.
I grew up in Garden Home, where I attended preschool the Jewish Community Center up until 1st grade and then transferred to Arbor School of Arts and Sciences in Tualatin from 1st-8th grade. I attended Jesuit High School in Beaverton, where I was encouraged to partake in an active role in my community. My friends and I volunteered for food drives, participated in sports, and I lead in leadership roles on campus to help guide my fellow peers. Once I graduated high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where I studied psychology. I knew this is what I wanted to study because I always found myself to be a patient person and an excellent listener, and majoring in the field allowed myself to strengthen these abilities. However, after considering multiple career fields as an upperclassman, I found myself fascinated in marketing and advertising, and I wanted to find a field where I could integrate these interests. Following my graduation, I relocated back to Portland and accepted an internship with Marathon Scholars, a local non-profit organization that involved guiding first-generation college students to and through college by means of providing mentorships and financial aid. Once the summer was ending and my internship was coming to a close, one of my friends who has been a broker for two years described her experience in real estate to me. I was awestruck - I would have the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with my clients and tie in my passions for marketing and advertising. The key factor that finalized my decision was knowing that I would be helping my clients through one of the largest and most stressful transitions of their lives; and that through demonstrating patience, consideration, and knowledge for my clients, I could make that transition remarkably easier. I finished my time at Marathon Scholars, earned my license as an associate broker and I’m extremely excited to begin my career at Living Room Realty.
