While the others certainly had solid credentials, and similarly sold themselves as neighborhood experts, Tom and Doug showed they truly understood the vintage home they were dealing with, and how to prepare and sell it to the right buyer in a very finicky market. We worked primarily with Tom day-to-day, with Doug’s support on our overall selling strategy and in open houses.
What was most meaningful to us throughout our engagement was Tom’s warm professionalism and positivity. We had multiple failed sales due to buyers’ loan issues or cold feet after inspection (our sticky wickets were a very tight/steep staircase and a 100 year old brick foundation). With each transaction, we felt we were very well represented as sellers, and that Tom truly cared to achieve the best result for our family. He finds a great balance between selling with urgency (we were balancing two mortgages after quickly securing our new “dream house”), and having the patience to get the right price. With so many ups and downs, Tom helped us pull everything back together, take lessons from it, and soldier on. We had a great personal connection (our toddlers couldn’t get enough of “Tall Tom”) and were ultimately very pleased with the final sale.
