A Home they Deserve in West Portland Park.

By Robin Hakeman, April 16, 2018

Meet Pete and Michele. They are fantastic people and I was lucky enough to help them find their first home for themselves. They have owned rentals before, but this one would be all theirs. It had to be just right.

Over the course of two months we looked and a lot of homes. It was good fun, but we weren’t finding anything that fit their needs. Some might say they were searching for a unicorn: close in SW, 3 beds, 2 baths with an open layout, nice sized yard, decent sized bedrooms, 2 car garage, certain price point. Ok, a rainbow unicorn.

Then one evening a new listing came up and I knew we had to see it immediately. It was a bit newer than some of the homes we had seen and had the traditional open layout they were looking for. Situated on a nice quiet street in the West Portland Park area, this home had even more space than they could have imagined – 4 generous bedrooms, a huge master bath with walk-in closet, a formal dining room and a space in the family room big enough for their massive TV! Plus, a nice yard for their dog, Cosmo. I had a good feeling about this one.

We saw the home the next day and things started to change for Pete and Michelle. I’ll never forget Pete’s words, “I don’t know if I deserve to live in a house like this.” That was all I needed to hear to know this was the one.

Pete and Michelle made a strong offer the next day and it was accepted! Everything happened very fast – I think they were still in shock on inspection day. The appraisal came in above value, ahead of schedule. Repairs were negotiated. We closed a week early. Unheard of right?

Sometimes, when you work with people like Pete and Michele, everything lines up just as it should…with a home they deserve to live in.

I am in love with my job!

One of the things I love most about my work in real estate is that it never feels like "work" to me. After working as a merchandise manager for some top local apparel and home brands I found my way to real estate and I will never look back. I am that rare combination of business smarts with a creative side and my skills are well suited for real estate. I have the analytical background necessary to help buyers and sellers with numbers and negotiation, as well as the creative vision to help clients best prepare their home for sale, or pick out paint colors for their new home. I am passionate about understanding the needs of each client and will work hard to help you realize your goals. I am dedicated to being a complete resource for you before, during and after your home purchase or sale. One of the aspects of this process that I value the most is the relationship we will build. Buying or selling a home can be stressful and I am here to work though it all with you. As a native Oregonian, I have lived in the suburbs, NW Portland and NE Portland. I have worked in areas all over the city and have seen the changes to our area over the last 10+ years. When I am not at the office or out with clients, you can find me taking a barre3 class, hiking, enjoying family time, volunteering at a school and enjoying local theater arts. I currently reside in the Fox Hill neighborhood of Tualatin with my husband, Eric, and my darling kiddos, Chloe (age 7) and Everett (age 4).
