The Power of Before and After

By Erin Primrose, May 9, 2018

It’s taken me a while to come down from this project, and the excitement that resulted in putting it all together. When I took this listing in Multnomah Village, it was rented and therefore I didn’t have the chance to look at it through the lens of a buyer as much as I would have liked to before floating a range of market value to the seller.  After the tenant moved and a second walk through, the nuances of this long time rental became clearer. My heart literally dropped when I came to the realization that my mouth had written a check that my ass couldn’t cash. The sellers and I were left with two choices: 1. Do nothing and put the home on the market for $50,000 less. than originally hoped for in “as-is” condition, or 2. Invest the time and money to bring the home “up” to land a buyer who would rather not take on projects and list it for the original amount.  The choice was clear, and the sellers were awesome so we rallied!

I’m not going to lie, this is a lesson I hope to never learn again but working with the sellers and merging my roles of a professional marketer, Realtor and general contractor was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in my career. We spent hours together prepping, painting, and staging to get this masterpiece pulled together, and I am so proud of the end result. We ended up with a tremendous turnout, and the home sold for above asking to wonderful buyers in just 3 days.  So many props to my amazing photographer and Crush Staging for capturing the magic!

Here are a few pics of the before and after:

I would love to be part of your next move…
