The Best of Neighbors!

By Christina McChesney, April 25, 2018

The best of neighbors are often hard to find. Often times, neighbors are a hard gamble in the house hunting process. You can find the perfect house that fits all the criteria, but you never know how the neighbors are going to turn out. It is important to live next to people that you like and know you can trust.

I received a call from Patrick one afternoon, he was referred to me from a past client whom he works with. He and his wife had been living in the Pearl for a few years, but recently had considered buying a home of their own. Ironically, their friends mentioned the home next door them was going on the market. This news excited and encouraged them to learn more. I did my research and was able to get them into the property- before it hit the market! At first, they weren’t totally sold. They loved the idea of living next door to their friends, but were worried about the busy street and other surrounding neighbors. They decided to hold off and keep looking.

After a full day of touring homes, they decided they didn’t have it in them to run around town and compete with other buyers. The first house was quickly becoming more and more appealing to them. We decided to take a second look and ended up writing an offer. There were a few other offers on the table, but luckily (with the help of the neighbors) we were able to present the seller with a strong offer that she accepted!

With closing quickly approaching, Patrick and MB are getting excited to spend summer evenings on the back porch with their new neighbors and long time friends. I am so happy in how this all turned out and couldn’t be more thrilled for them!

Real Estate has always been my passion. Growing up in the Southwest hills, with a breathtaking view of the city, I learned to appreciate Portland for all it has to offer. I fell in love with Real Estate when my family decided to move across the river to NE Portland. We spent many years looking for a home.  I became mesmerized by learning the differences of the homes we toured- the details and quality of build, matched with all the original character and charm, most specifically the history that was hidden in the walls. We found ourselves living in a small Bungalow in Alameda, before moving to our large Craftsman in Irvington. I spent the first 18 years of my life living in both SW and NE Portland, exploring the neighborhoods and all they had to offer. College took me away to Montana, where I bought my first home at the age of 19. I graduated in 2012 with a Business Marketing Degree from the University of Montana. I immediately moved home to Portland and began my real estate career. I spent the next three years working with a top producing Real Estate team, specializing in NW & SW Portland, the Pearl District and Inner NE Portland. In 2015, I decided to start my own Real Estate endeavors. I attribute my extensive knowledge of the city, its neighborhoods and different styles of homes to my ability in finding my clients the perfect place to call home. By focusing on the individual needs and priorities of all my clients, I am able to tailor my strategies for the highest level of success. While I am not in the office or out with clients, you can find me running, boating, wake boarding, vacationing on the Oregon coast, or watching Oregon Duck Football. I also love exploring Portland and all its great restaurants and food carts. I currently reside in the Pearl District with my French bulldog, Wrigley. Next time you’re poised to enter the market; I would be honored to guide you through this important process!
