Andrew and Katie started their home search resigned to probably having to live east of 82nd. They wanted to find a house with enough bedrooms to be able to take their roommates with them, although it didn’t really matter what style of house. We started looking at fixers but they quickly realized that they don’t the time to dedicate to home projects. It wasn’t long before this little bungalow in St. John’s came back on the market. Besides location, what drew them to this house was the the beautiful natural woodwork throughout. Someone had taken the time to strip down all the wood and restore it to it’s original state.
The listing agent explained what had killed the previous deal. The roof was at the end of it’s life, there was some funky electrical in the attic, and it needed a sewer. Nothing that can’t be fixed but it was enough to spook the first buyer. We got all of our bids and negotiated all three repairs and they felt confident moving forward.
These two were the sweetest couple and working with them felt like hanging out with new friends. I’m so glad they were able to land in St. John’s, close to everything and all of their friends. Congrats, you guys!!

Originally from Worcester, Massachusetts my love affair with real estate began when I was 19 and owned my first triple-decker.
Being a landlady at 19 quickly taught me the importance of learning DIY skills to turn an old junky three-decker into a place someone would love to call home. Waiting tables and bartending all over Portland for the last 10 years has allowed me to really get to know many of the neighborhoods this beautiful city has to offer. I've lived in and rented houses all over Alberta, Concordia, Hawthorne and Division until buying a house and settling in Kenton two years ago.
If I'm not working you can bet that I'm somewhere in Oregon thrifting, at the river, working on my house, or catching happy hour with friends.
