Serendipitous Home Buyers

By Christina McChesney, September 26, 2018

I never would have thought our serendipitous meeting would result in helping this adorable couple find their first home. Rewind 6 months to a stormy weekend spent at the Oregon Coast, a surprise party for a mutual friend. Some of us knew each other, but most of us did not- a gathering of random friends in one house. It was like being on an episode of the Real World- waiting for the next person to walk through the door. Brittany and Matt walked in and knew we would instantly be friends. We all spent the weekend playing games, taking walks on the beach and getting to know each other. It was truly an epic time.

A few months later Matt and Brittany were married, then headed off on their honeymoon in Italy. A couple months after that, they reached out to chat about houses- something I certainly like to chat about! We met for margaritas at Matador to discuss their wants and desires in a home. We set off on our adventure- an adventure it was. We came across the strangest things… dead possums, scary cats, old drugs houses- you name it! Nonetheless, we finally found this cute little home nestled between Killingsworth and Alberta. Close to Matt’s work, shops and restaurants- their next chapter starts in the perfect neighborhood for them!

Cheers to these newlyweds & new home owners!

Real Estate has always been my passion. Growing up in the Southwest hills, with a breathtaking view of the city, I learned to appreciate Portland for all it has to offer. I fell in love with Real Estate when my family decided to move across the river to NE Portland. We spent many years looking for a home.  I became mesmerized by learning the differences of the homes we toured- the details and quality of build, matched with all the original character and charm, most specifically the history that was hidden in the walls. We found ourselves living in a small Bungalow in Alameda, before moving to our large Craftsman in Irvington. I spent the first 18 years of my life living in both SW and NE Portland, exploring the neighborhoods and all they had to offer. College took me away to Montana, where I bought my first home at the age of 19. I graduated in 2012 with a Business Marketing Degree from the University of Montana. I immediately moved home to Portland and began my real estate career. I spent the next three years working with a top producing Real Estate team, specializing in NW & SW Portland, the Pearl District and Inner NE Portland. In 2015, I decided to start my own Real Estate endeavors. I attribute my extensive knowledge of the city, its neighborhoods and different styles of homes to my ability in finding my clients the perfect place to call home. By focusing on the individual needs and priorities of all my clients, I am able to tailor my strategies for the highest level of success. While I am not in the office or out with clients, you can find me running, boating, wake boarding, vacationing on the Oregon coast, or watching Oregon Duck Football. I also love exploring Portland and all its great restaurants and food carts. I currently reside in the Pearl District with my French bulldog, Wrigley. Next time you’re poised to enter the market; I would be honored to guide you through this important process!
