Pearl Lifestyle

By Christina McChesney, April 16, 2018

The Pearl is one of Portland’s most desirable places to live. All the shopping, parks, entertainment and food- why would you live anywhere else!? The Pearl has been home for Jose for the last 10 years, living in a couple different buildings. After living in The Riverscape Townhomes for the past few years, Jose decided it was time to move closer into the the Pearl. Our search began casually, as he was waiting for the right property to catch his eye. Jose is a successful mortgage broker and business owner. In fact, he owns The Fields Bar and Grill located on NW 11th and Northrup. Living close to the bar has always been important; however, his office is located in Lake Oswego, making his daily commute tiring. For a few months, he had his eye on a unit in the Bridgeport, ironically the same building as The Fields. The unit was a little outdated, and while Jose has a background in construction and house flipping, he wasn’t sure he was ready to take on a personal project. After seeing everything on the market, we decided the Bridgeport unit best suited his needs- with it’s proximity to the bar and extra space for a home office. We wrote and offer and began our negotiations. We soon came to terms and were able to close two weeks early!

I gave Jose the keys to his new condo last week and he is currently in the process of having his remodel plans approved by the HOA. The kitchen plans include installing all new appliances, new flooring, new counter tops and back splash. The entire unit will be painted, trim and doors included. He has some high-end tech plans for the bathroom, which include installing an iPad into the wall between the double mirrors. The bathroom will have a rain shower above the new standing glass shower, replacing the current tub/shower combo, new tile throughout and a new double sink vanity. Once his remodel is complete, this Pearl condo will have it all!

Now, Jose is just steps from The Fields- making Taco Tuesday and Bingo Wednesday’s harder to resist! He has a den that he will convert into a home office, where he will be able to spend more of his time approving loans and helping others find their dream homes. It was a honor working with him throughout this transaction, while helping him add convenience to his business and lifestyle.

Real Estate has always been my passion. Growing up in the Southwest hills, with a breathtaking view of the city, I learned to appreciate Portland for all it has to offer. I fell in love with Real Estate when my family decided to move across the river to NE Portland. We spent many years looking for a home.  I became mesmerized by learning the differences of the homes we toured- the details and quality of build, matched with all the original character and charm, most specifically the history that was hidden in the walls. We found ourselves living in a small Bungalow in Alameda, before moving to our large Craftsman in Irvington. I spent the first 18 years of my life living in both SW and NE Portland, exploring the neighborhoods and all they had to offer. College took me away to Montana, where I bought my first home at the age of 19. I graduated in 2012 with a Business Marketing Degree from the University of Montana. I immediately moved home to Portland and began my real estate career. I spent the next three years working with a top producing Real Estate team, specializing in NW & SW Portland, the Pearl District and Inner NE Portland. In 2015, I decided to start my own Real Estate endeavors. I attribute my extensive knowledge of the city, its neighborhoods and different styles of homes to my ability in finding my clients the perfect place to call home. By focusing on the individual needs and priorities of all my clients, I am able to tailor my strategies for the highest level of success. While I am not in the office or out with clients, you can find me running, boating, wake boarding, vacationing on the Oregon coast, or watching Oregon Duck Football. I also love exploring Portland and all its great restaurants and food carts. I currently reside in the Pearl District with my French bulldog, Wrigley. Next time you’re poised to enter the market; I would be honored to guide you through this important process!
