Nice Humans Get Park Views

By Beth Bonita, April 2, 2018

There is something wonderful about stumbling on to a place that is oh so easy to say ‘yes’ to. On one beautiful and sunny Sunday, the type of day that makes you love living in Portland, Michael wandered in to an open house at the Pinnacle. He then immediately reached out to me to say “hello,” ask how I was doing and to tell me that he found a new place he wants to buy and asked if I would take a look.

I’ve known Michael for a number of years, first through helping him sell his unit in Irving Street Lofts, and then after scoping out almost every condo building in the Pearl helping him find his new industrial pad at the North Park Lofts. I always liked working with Michael because he is a genuinely nice human being, and after spending so much time working together, I knew what he was drawn to aesthetically and that he was an experienced buyer who knew what he liked when he saw it. After looking up the unit and calling Michael to discuss the pros and cons of the building, location etc., it was hard to find anything about this unit that truly wouldn’t work for him. It was easy to see the appeal being a corner unit with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows with an unobstructed view of Tanner Park, and a generous sized patio. I feel that part of my job is to play devil’s-advocate to make sure every angle is being considered before writing an offer for a client so they aren’t just caught up in the thrill of buying a place, but knowing Michael and after going through the short list of negatives, we quickly wrote up an offer and got it accepted in a multiple offer situation.

Any agent will tell you, there is no such thing as an easy transaction, no matter how it might look at the beginning or from the outside. There is always some challenge to overcome that takes commitment and effort from all parties involved to make it happen. But somehow, Michael stumbled upon a great condo and everything just lined up and fell in to place. Everyone is happy, no one was stressed. It was just all so pleasantly easy for everyone, something I am solely crediting to Michael being such a genuinely nice easy-going person and that it was his karma just coming back around.
