Multigenerational living is becoming common
Julie B. and her family have put a spin on it.
Julie , sister Cindy and mom Barbara have successfully created a dynamic of parent and siblings living in one household. Ready for a change and less extreme weather of Colorado, Julie was offered and accepted a great job in Vancouver, WA.
Being diligent planners, Julie and her mom connected the day of the interview. I am licensed in Oregon and Washington and they were not sure where they would want to land in relation to the new job. We got together at pretty quick notice. Sitting a local coffee shop where we could get to know each other, chatting about the market and looking to see what matches their criteria. Each wants their own bedroom, bathroom and family room space. Additionally, a home with 3,000 sf, under $450,000, close to walking-trails and within a 15 minute drive to Julie’s new office in downtown Vancouver.
Immediately we opted to nix Portland area. Driving time is more than 15 minutes and push into housing hunting in Gresham. That was not optimal. Instead, focusing on west side Vancouver. Backroads to downtown Vancouver provided easier options than doing the I-5 gauntlet. It is closer to trails. Homes tended to be larger as well.
Four solid days eight hour days looking within and outside our focus area. Ultimately found the “one” in Felida. Julie and her family closed just a few days ago and moved in this past weekend. I am very excited for them to be “Washingtonians” and be part of a wonderful new community.
