A friend of mine who is a stylist at Schoolhouse Electric (LOVE that place) once told me, “When it feels like something’s missing, just add a few plants!” She was totally right – whether it’s your home’s interior or backyard, plants can make a world of difference when it comes to pulling a space together.
I spent a lot of time at Portland’s numerous nurseries and plant shops, and my clients often ask me for my favorites. Honestly, I love them all. But here are some of my go-to spots for various flora needs!

Solabee Flowers & Botanicals
801 N Killingsworth St, Portland, OR 97217
Not just a florist shop, Solabee has a fantastic selection of potted plants, too. I love that you can select a gorgeous pot and have them fill it for you right in the store. It’s also just a pleasure to visit here and chat with the friendly staff. This is my go-to spot for client closing gifts!

Portland Nursery
9000 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97266
Portland Nursery has a couple locations around the city, but my personal favorite is the one on Division. It’s the first plant shop I visited when I moved to Portland, and it never disappoints. They have a great selection of indoor plants including bonzai and cacti, and their outdoor garden area is amazing. They have roses, trees, perennials, annuals…you name it. The place is huge – grab a wagon! It’s my default spot for finding treasures to add to my flower beds and containers.

Pistils Nursery
3811 N Mississippi Ave Suite 1, Portland, OR 97227
Pistils provides a sensory plant experience like no other. They offer a curated and gorgeous selection of air plants, houseplants, pots, candles, outdoor plants and more. Whether you’re actually in the market for plants or just want to browse and enjoy your coffee, this is the place to go. Bonus points for going on a rainy, Portland-y day and just enjoying the vibe.

Gardener’s Choice
14240 SW Pacific Hwy, Tigard, OR 97224
If pots are your thing (POTS, not pot), head to Gardener’s Choice in Tigard. It’s a bit of a drive from downtown Portland, but it’s 100% worth it if you are into colorful and BIG pots and outdoor decor. They also have a lot of amazing fountains and other fun pieces to design your dream outdoor haven. Of course, their plant/tree selection is also fantastic, but the real joy of this place lies INSIDE its walls. (Photo from Gardener’s Choice – not my own)

She spends a great deal of time getting to know her clients as well as previewing homes to make the process more efficient and enjoyable for everyone involved.
