Holy shit… A home for $250,000? In Portland? Inconceivable!! Conceive it.

Josh is one of Jake’s best friends, and came to us with a tight time frame. We immediately started on the search and within a few days found one that seemed to fit. Cute house, HUGE lot. Problem is, when you’re looking in the $250,000 range, things can come up that you wouldn’t expect. We went through inspections, but problems started coming up with appraisals. The appraisers felt that keeping the home on the property wasn’t it’s best use. WTF right?

Anyways, with appraisers refusing to pick up the appraisal order, we had to terminate. Of course it couldn’t have just been that easy! However, the next day we put in another offer for this home. Right off of Burnside and 133rd, it was very similar to the house we were in contract in beforehand. The home was actually a little bit nicer, but needed work. Of course it did, it cost $250,000 and is in the Portland city limits. The house was everything Josh needed though. And, luckily enough, during our inspections we found a boarded off upstairs! Walked right into some additional square footage, The Conjuring style. The home was used as a long time rental, and it showed. The blinds were all broken and the appliances were beat up. Josh took it with stride and his excitement could not be shook. Rather than focusing on the bad, Josh consistently found optimism and opportunity.

Point being, if you’re alright rolling up your sleeves and getting a little dirty, affordable Portland homes are still out there. They might be out in the numbers, but they’re there. Congratulations to Josh! This was a really important one for Jake, and I’m glad we could pull it together. Thank you to Kym Mayea, Danielle Easton and Kris Heppner for the amazing work!
