Growing up Portland, Moving up Portland.

By Jamie Marion, May 21, 2018

There is funny thing about meeting people in Portland. People always seem astonished that anyone is actually from here, which is of course completely hilarious. We have a huge influx of people moving to Portland from California and the East Coast, so sometimes it can feel like native Portlanders are a rare breed, but I assure they are out there. My clients, Michelle and Aaron are the ultimate combo. They are both Portland born-and-raised, and have every intention of keeping their roots firmly planted in their native soil.

I have known Michelle for 8 years. One of the coolest parts of being a realtor is when your friends come to you to help them find their next home. It’s the highest compliment and I could not have been more thrilled to get to work with them to find the perfect situation for beginning their new life together. See, Michelle and Aaron are recently engaged and planning to get married this fall. Finding the right home for these two Portlanders was imperative.

We had some hurdles. We were looking for a “close-in” home in SE under $300k. Luckily, they were looking for a fixer so they could really make their mark on the home and create the space that would suit their lifestyle. After 6 months of searching, we finally found the right home. A charming ranch with major potential, for a cool $270k!

Now in addition to the price tag, this home had some seriously appeal thanks to a few details. Michelle is a nurse at Salem Hospital, so the nearby freeway access was perfect for her commute. Aaron is one of the owners of Tannery Bar (conveniently located down the street from the home) and is an avid musician. The basement of the home features not only a great space for playing music, but a soundproofed room as well. No annoying the neighbors with loud late-night jam sessions! And speaking of the neighbors, their dear friends actually live right next door. Is there room for fate in real estate? These two make me believe there has to be.

Congratulations to my wonderful friends and clients, not only the purchase of your first home, but on all the exciting life changes!
