FoPo Fo Sho!

By Megan Baker, May 1, 2018

You’ve heard of the hottest growing Portland neighborhoods right?

FoPo Fo Sho!  Jenny and Jayson casually showed up to the open house for this property one Saturday.  They’ve been renting their home for about 3 years just a mile away and feel the desirability of the area.  While they enjoyed living in their house, it was clear that it wasn’t theirs.   With a son in school, Portland Mercado just down the block, and the new streetscape project, they didn’t want to leave their beloved neighborhood.

Foster Powel, better known as FoPo is where it’s at!

From painting the kids’ bedrooms, to malfunctioning appliances, everything had to be pre-approved with their landlord first.  They’d recently discussed directly buying the home they’d been renting.  However, with increasing property values and a not so motivated owner, it just wasn’t meant to be.  Stopping by the 72nd Ave open house on a whim, they fell in love with this beautifully updated 1907 craftsman.  The sellers had put a lot of love and thought into sprucing up this house that resulted in a wonderful place for Jenny and Jayson to plant their roots.

When it comes time to do a final property walk-through or the exchange of keys, buyers and sellers rarely meet in person.  In this case however, the story is different.  Before move in day, the sellers welcomed Jenny and Jayson to walk their new home the old school meet and greet style face to face.  They provided an organized home book filled with all appliance manuals, trash schedules, and everything in between including some surprising property artifacts.

As renovations were made over the past decade, quite a few interesting items were found on the property.  Antique little trinkets buried under layers of dirt, newspapers behind the old fireplace, and more.

The most interesting piece of history is a personal love letter dated early 1900’s and addressed to a past resident.

It was hidden in one of the walls and is now framed and intended to remain at the address for a lifetime.

Congratulations to my happy clients and their little piece of Foster-Powell that they now call their own.  Cheers to their new memories and love story!
