A Compass Led Home Search

My clients just closed on a beautifully functional Vastu approved home. According to Wikipedia, Vastu Shastra is a “traditional Hindu system of architecture which literally translates to “science of architecture.”” This was one of my most interesting and rewarding house hunts yet. My clients are relocating to Portland from California, thus, I was doing quite a bit of legwork on narrowing down the homes that they would fly in to see. I literally would arrive at a house, pull out my compass on my phone, and draw a quick floor plan with relative directions to report back to my clients. One of the interesting insights I came across during this house hunt was in neighborhoods with all new construction. The only homes that did not seem to be selling were ones that did not fit within the Vastu system. Coincidence? I think not. So a heads up to all those builders, avoid a south facing house at all costs!
