A gorgeous build-ready lot on John Muir Circle at Pringle Creek Community was just sold to a beautiful couple who believes in living sustainability.
As residents they are now a part of Pringle Creek Community, a sustainable development, nestled in southeast Salem. It’s about 33 acres, and almost a 1/3 of it is shared green space. That means residents get access to an urban farm, cedar groves, the creek, and a whole lot more. The urban farm has a couple of historic and restored glass houses, and residents can choose to have indoor and outdoor gardening plots. There are orchards and blueberry patches along with paths that run throughout the community. Farm fresh eggs and sweet local honey are also here. Imagine being able to pluck some sun-kissed blueberries and say, “Hi” to the chickens at Cluckingham Palace. That’s just a taste of a day in the life at the agrihood.
Not only that, but there’s a community center and event space, which is also a resident amenity. It’s the first LEED Platinum certified community center in the nation. With zero-waste strategies that includes a full kitchen, and a great space that has a retreat-like atmosphere. Residents use this space for things like yoga, book club, and Girl Scouts. The SLC (Sustainable Living Center) is also a non-profit that operates out of Painters Hall, and they’re continually having fun events about foraging, urban farming, and more environmentally conscious activities.
Innovation is threaded throughout Pringle Creek Community. Pervious pavement and bioswales that direct water flow back into the ground, the geothermal loop, and even living roof tops with brilliant poppies that pop-up in spring time. It will be exciting to see the custom build that happens for this family! All homes built at Pringle Creek Community are LEED Silver certified and above, so it will be built with healthy materials along with the utmost in energy efficient technology.
