A place to eat

By Carly van Aart, June 1, 2018

A proper dining table. A place to eat other than the couch. Doesn’t seem like too much to ask for two professional adults excelling in their careers now does it? Abbey and Kevin had been living in a wee little house in quaint Hollywood. It was darling and immaculate and it was entirely obvious that they appreciated every inch of the space because they had implemented all sorts of creative efficiencies to make it as useful as possible. Despite their best efforts though with a tiny living room and only a two person sized nook they were stuck balancing plates on laps or God forbid whipping out the TV trays (I actually don’t know if they have those but thought it would sit well for dramatic effect). Their two pooches were fans of course since it made for greater crumb droppage opportunities but the humans were ready to have a proper set up.

With fierce participation from all parties we not only had their house under contract to sell over the first weekend but also after closing out the inspection period early they were contracted to purchase a new home within 11 days of listing their own. Located in the beautiful Irvington neighborhood and with more than enough room for a table to seat 12 Kevin and Abbey knew this house was going to take them from perpetual newlywed status to the professional adults that they  recognized themselves to be. Seriously adulting! Just a hair over 5 weeks passed from the day the old place hit the market until I placed the keys to the new home in Kevin’s hot little hands.

The pair was busy bustling around with the move so I didn’t have an opportunity to connect with the them again until a couple of days after closing. I knocked on their door with gift in hand to share my congratulations once again and to thank them for the opportunity to work together. Abbey answered and invited me in to see what they’d accomplished so far. Sure enough a gaggle of friends were gathered together around a table in the dining room laughing and enjoying an array of grown-up moving day eats (Pok Pok for helping move? Where’s the pizza?!) The adventure was officially complete and although the table was just a stand in it was still a dream realized.

Whether you’re hoping for more space or less I’d love to help you with your next transition!

Real estate has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. As a child I filled notebooks and whiteboards with plans of dream homes and tree fortresses and when asked what I wanted to do for my sixteenth birthday my one desire was to go house-hunting. In addition I have a strong affinity for helping and advocating for others. Nothing lights up my world like serving someone in a way that leaves them beyond satisfied! Needless to say, as a realtor I have the incredible opportunity to serve my clients with a decision that for many, is one of the largest that they will make in their lifetime. Whether buying for the first time, selling a cherished family home or relocating to this fantastic city, it is truly an honor to see my clients through their transition and make the process fun and painless. A native Alaskan, I grew up hauling firewood, working the garden and tending to the family rabbits. My childhood taught me the meaning of hard work and for that I am very grateful.  These days I am a lover of dog kisses and outdoor adventures. I dabble in triathlon and enjoy helping fundraise for local charities. I am extremely close to my incredible family even though they are spread out across the west coast. I look forward to the opportunity to foster a relationship with you and help you make your real estate dreams a reality!
